Job Title: Camp Photographer
Reports To: Administrative Director

The goal of this position is to enhance the interactive experience of our camper’s parents by offering them the opportunity to see camp through photos posted daily on Facebook and Instagram. The objective is that a parent should see a basketball photo, a water or land activity photo, and a friendship photo of their child each day. Due to the dynamic nature of summer camp demands, all staff must understand that additional duties may be assigned as required.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mandatory attendance for Staff Training Week.
  • Work as part of a team to foster a safe, fun, and supportive camp environment grounded upon Elite Camps’ mission and values.
  • Demonstrate positive attitudes, respectful communication, appropriate attire and grooming, and a diligent work ethic.
  • Maintain unwavering, infectious energy.
  • Provide care to our campers that reflect the standards and guidelines of Elite Camps
  • Learn and abide by all policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of campers and staff.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Experience working with a Nikon or Canon Camera.
  • Ensure that photos taken are in line with the standards set by Elite Camps.
  • Create and execute a weekly photography schedule to ensure all camp sections are photographed equally at camp.
  • Visit all programming areas throughout the day to photograph activities.
  • Photograph during special evening programming.
  • Upload photographs twice daily to Facebook, ensuring that every camper is included in at least 3 photos per day. Approximately 600 photos a day are uploaded.
  • Post on Instagram as scheduled.
  • Sort, edit, and organize photos into files for offseason marketing purposes.
  • Sign and abide by Elite Camps Privacy Policy.
  • Attend daily staff team meetings as scheduled.
  • Be punctual and respect the schedule.
  • Willing to set goals and take feedback in daily sessions with Senior Staff and adjust accordingly.
  • Live in the camper cabins and work cooperatively with cabin staff to create a positive cabin culture.
  • Provide supervision of campers in other program areas as required in the daily schedule.
  • Cabin supervision during Free Periods and Night Duty as scheduled.

  • 8 weeks of Camp (June 30- August 24, 2024)
  • Employment in May, June, Sept & October is available for staff interested in working at the camp for retreats and group rentals.

Wages:  Summer wages vary depending on the age, qualifications, and experience of applicants. Room and board are included.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 17 years of age.
  • Current CPR-C and First Aid certification
  • Current Criminal Background Check
  • Genuine interest and experience in photography.
  • Able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Experience using Facebook.
  • Familiar with programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and Google Photos, and Apple iMovie.
  • Must be an outgoing, enthusiastic, energetic, and positive person.

Cleaning Staff

Job Title: Cleaning Assistant
Reports To: Facility Manager & Director
Number of Positions Available: 2

Cleaners will be expected to uphold the Elite Camps standards of safety and cleanliness, by ensuring all buildings are kept clean and orderly. This staff member must have an interest in keeping the facility clean and sanitized while ensuring to always keep personal, camper, and staff safety a top priority. This person would work indirectly with children but would need to possess an interest in working with children.

Camp Facility #2

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to all Elite Camps policies & procedures.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties to keep the camp community safe for campers and staff and looking presentable. 
  • Execute your job in a productive, professional, and positive manner.
  • Always follow proper safety guidelines and wear safety equipment when completing tasks.
  • Be an active participant in the camp community.
  • Strict adherence to Elite Camps Privacy Policy.

Recommended Qualifications

  • A minimum of 17 years of age.
  • Genuine interest in working at a residential camp.
  • Valid G driver’s license.
  • Current Criminal Background Check.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cleaners will be responsible for monitoring and stocking supplies in common use spaces such as camper cabins, camper & staff bathrooms, Main Office, Health Centre, and Dining Hall.
  • Collect and dispose of the trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
  • Sweep and mop floors following approved procedures.
  • Continuous cleaning of common touch surface areas around camp.
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday as well as the odd Saturday or Sunday.
  • Assist maintenance staff when needed.
  • Will be asked to pick up supplies from the local hardware stores.
  • May be asked to periodically travel longer distances in a camp vehicle, to pick up/purchase camp-related items.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Assistant

Job Title: Maintenance Assistant
Reports To: Facility Manager
Number of Positions Available: 2

The Maintenance Assistant will aid the Facility Manager in various daily maintenance tasks around the site. It is the responsibility of the maintenance team to uphold the Elite Camps standards of safety and cleanliness; as such, the maintenance assistant must possess a keen awareness of, and ability to handle, any situations that may compromise these standards. As well, the maintenance assistant must keep personal, camper, and staff safety a top priority. This person would work indirectly with children but would need to possess an interest in working with children.

Camp Facilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to all Elite Camps policies & procedures.
  • Perform repairs and regular maintenance routines to keep the camp community looking presentable and safe for campers and staff.
  • Execute your job in a productive, professional, and positive manner.
  • Always follow proper safety guidelines and wear safety equipment when completing tasks.
  • Be an active participant in the camp community.
  • Strict adherence to Elite Camps Privacy Policy.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete minor construction tasks (shoveling sand, raking, helping with tree removal, etc.)
  • Complete minor building projects (assembling bunks, siding repairs, cabin repairs, window replacement, painting, lawn care, etc.).
  • Be knowledgeable in all safety procedures: including fire, land, and aquatic emergency procedures.
  • Work Sunday to Friday, hours will vary depending on maintenance work that needs to be completed as well as weather. May need to work the odd Saturday.
  • Ability to use basic lawn care equipment (riding a lawn mower, push mower, grass trimmer, leaf blower, etc.).
  • Basic mechanic knowledge is a plus.
  • Do daily garbage pickups around camp (changing garbage bags and taking them to the appropriate area).
  • Will be asked to pick up supplies from the local hardware stores.
  • May be asked to periodically travel longer distances in a camp vehicle, to pick up/purchase camp-related items.
  • May be asked to assist with plumbing repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Camp Administrator

Job Title: Camp Administrator
Reports To: Camp Director
Number of Positions Available:1

(For all 8 weeks & Staff Training)

This role is a designated office position consisting of a wide variety of administrative with camper and staff interaction. The Camp Administrator works cooperatively amongst members of the Leadership Team and is the leading point of contact with parents. They help facilitate the registration process and other parent/camper satisfaction-related issues as they arise through the summer. The dynamic nature of summer camp demands each staff understand that additional duties may be assigned as required.

Camp Facilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be an effective role model to campers and staff in compliance with all rules & regulations, maintaining a clean and safe work & living environment. 
  • Perform all other duties and roles assigned by the Camp Director.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up the summer camp office.
  • Manage and proactively resolve parent inquiries & requests ensuring efficient and timely response to email and telephone inquiries on a daily basis.
  • Retrieve and respond to voicemail in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Directors about feedback from parents and campers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all forms and payments are completed by registrants prior to their arrival at camp.
  • Write and send mass emails to parents regarding various camp-related information.
  • Assist with all aspects of the camper Pick-Up and Drop-Off process.
  • Monitor and post daily attendance of staff and campers, including sign-ins & sign-outs.
  • Provide Leadership Team with accurate reports obtained through CircuiTree.
  • Copy, print, scan, sort, and file all support materials required to run the camp. This includes but is not limited to attendance lists, Camper Mail, Incident Reports, Camper Tracking Sheets, Gameplans.
  • Collect, log, label, and file all incoming invoices and receipts.
  • Track and log attendance count for meals.
  • Facilitate the daily management of all Lost & Found items.
  • Confirm all busing reservations with registrants and the bus company prior to the sessions. Manage and log all bussing related issues.
  • Run the Tuck Shop and the Camp Store daily.
  • Track inventory for the Tuck Shop & the Camp Store and reorder when necessary.
  • May be asked to travel in a camp vehicle, locally and longer distances, to pick up/purchase camp-related items.
  • Strict adherence to Elite Camps’ Privacy Policy.

  • Some pre-camp work may be needed in June

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Demonstrated superior organization, communication (verbal & written), and customer service skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of a Windows computer environment (Excel, Outlook, Word), and Google Drive.
  • Ability to learn our camp management software quickly and effectively.
  • Current CPR-C and First Aid certification.

  • Valid G driver's license.
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and positive.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of campers, and staff.

Kitchen Staff

Job Title: Kitchen Staff
Reports To: Sous Chef, Head Chef, Facility Manager, Directors
Number of Positions Available: 2

Kitchen Staff  provide support and assistance to the Sous Chef and Head Chef in the camp kitchen.

Elite-Camps-Awesome Dining Hall-4

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cut, peel and wash vegetables as needed
  • Set up and tear down of the buffets
  • Bring loaded buspans to kitchen from serving area after meals
  • Wash kitchen and service dishes
  • Stock and replenish food service items such as cutlery, dishes, glasses, cups and condiments after all meal periods.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and safe kitchen
  • Assist the with the unloading and storage of all supplies and groceries.

  • Able to handle heavy loads and physically demanding tasks

Kitchen Staff

Job Title: Sous Chef
Reports To: Head Chef, Facility Manager, Directors
Number of Positions Available: 1

The Sous Chef works alongside Head Chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring stock.  They contribute to the meal quality and consistency by following designated recipes.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead kitchen team in Chef's absence
  • Use safe food handling practices at all times
  • Clean kitchen equipment and tools after each use
  • Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members
  • Assists in organizing kitchen stock and ingredients
  • Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
  • Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
  • Assists in training new employees kitchen efficiency and standards
  • Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality
  • Works with Head Chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
  • Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
  • Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures
  • Make proper use of all supplies, tools, equipment and time
  • Work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
