He enjoyed meeting new basketball friends, playing tons and learning basketball drills, air conditioning, bathrooms in his cabin, the amazing food, his counsellors, and also the outdoor activities. Linda Sparks78 days agoUpdate: My daughter wrote the review below after a week at camp last summer. She has now completed two more weeks this summer, with a third 2026 session booked in late August. She absolutely loves it there - it's a fantastic blend of solid basketball training mixed with traditional summer camp fun. As the head coach of her travel team, I can attest to the development gains that come from her weeks at camp. And as her parent I'm thrilled to see how much she loves it and the enduring friendships it creates - she's still in touch regularly with kids she met last year. Hi, I'm 12 years old, this was my first year at Hoop Dreams Camp. This camp is one of the best things I've ever done, and I've done many sleep away camps. I went alone, but everyone there is so welcoming and kind and the counsellors make everyone feel welcome no matter what. The bunks and cabins were amazing. The beds were a good size and comfortable, and they made sure to give you lots of space for your stuff and personal items. The food at this place was 5 STAR (like the camp) The food was very good, and you could have as many servings as you want and need with no issue. The food choices were also very inclusive, and not to mention the salad bar that is open for every meal. At game time/basketball periods the coaches helping were always super fun, kind, enthusiastic, and always willing to give constructive criticism and help out. The activities you are able to do while not playing basketball are also super fun and well managed. This camp overall was quite literally life changing for me and i will definitely be coming back as long as possible. This camp help with my teamwork skills, confidence and my overall basketball skills. I was nervous when i first got there but that faded quickly seeing how everyone was so positive and kind. If your kid is nervous just know that it is one of the best experiences I've ever had. If you're looking for a basketball summer camp, this is 100% the one.Posted on Google

Even though it’s a basketball camp, the friendships and bonds they make really help them grow socially too. Usually, we can’t get our son off his device at home, but for the whole time he’s at camp, he says he doesn’t miss it at all. From the basketball drills and fantastic coaches to the delicious food and tubing, everything was, in his words, "awesome!" One comment that really stood out to me was that having the basketball courts and the lake right beside each other made the whole camp feel peaceful and relaxing. They both love this camp, the basketball(of course) and the fun afternoon activities and I can't forget to mention color wars(thier faborite)! ! They also liked the coaches and air conditioned cabins. I liked how the staff contacted me after each year one registration and more importantly, how they contact you in the Tuesday of the week to let you know how your year one registered child is doing(If any issues, it gets addressed right away). I am also impressed with how the staff care for the atheletes/campers and make sure things stay orderly. I highly recommend this sleepover camp to any youth who love basketball! Andrew Gallacher417 days agoI sent my two children (12 & 10) to Elite Camps Hoop Dreams this summer (2025). Coming from Japan to attend the camp, and this being their first time, it's safe to say that we were a little nervous about what to expect. Gladly, both kids (boy and girl) had a fantastic time and are already talking about wanting to go back again next year. Thank you very much to Stephanie (the camp's owner/director) and the staff at Hoop Dreams for providing my children with a wonderful childhood memory. At first he was very nervous about going and that he was not going to make any friends. He did make friends alot of friends. He even got an award for Kayaking!! Melissa Quarrie443 days agoMy daughter (10) loved her first year at Hoop Dreams. She went with a couple of other girls from her team, so that likely helped build her comfort and confidence. She loved the basketball, and also the SUP, swimming, and other water activities. She also thought the counsellors were fantastic. She’d attended a non-sport overnight camp for the previous three years and enjoyed this one much more. The only negative comment she had was that she didn’t get enough to eat, but it sounds like she may have needed to be a bit louder in asking for seconds :). All the questions you might have are answered before you even think of them. The updates of daily photos and letters from your camper on Bunk1 were probably my favourite part. Amazing camp! The kids had a fantastic time and raved about the accommodations, food, activities, and especially the basketball coaching. One suggestion for an even better experience would be to ensure coaches actively encourage making the right basketball play. My daughter and several other girls in the teen session noticed that passes often weren’t made to them by most boys regardless of being open or in a position for the right play. A consistent message about making the best basketball play—rather than passing to avoid girls could help reinforce the development of basketball IQ.Posted on Google

Cliff Mark467 days agoHoop dreams is an amazing camp! Here are my 10yr son's comments: I was there for a week and didn't feel home sick whatsoever. There is always something to do at this camp, arts and crafts, water tubing, open basketball, rock climbing wall, water sports, and volleyball. The coaches are respectful and kind, there is dribbling, passing, cut & fill training exercises. There are a lot of special events like Cabin Cup and a Youth camp tournament (a basketball tournament for the youth camp, same thing with Teen camp) also there is snack time. After lunch there is candy/tuk shop where we can buy merch and candy. At the end of the week there was awards handed out to people who won overall. Katrina Dickson799 days agoWhere to start...this was our son's first time at Hoop Dreams and by all accounts this was the best thing he's ever done. From the start- communication was seamless. We got several emails leading up to the first day of camp, so we all felt comfortable on the day of his departure. When we arrived to drop him off, we were greeted by several camp counselors. One to check him in, one to collect his baggage and another to bring him into the camp. During his stay we got daily photos. Although this is a basketball focused camp- we saw him enjoying archery, swimming, tubing on the lake and just about anything a kid could dream of for a summer holiday. He raved about the food and especially loved colour wars. We were able to get him on the bus home and on his arrival, he ran off the bus smiling ear to ear, giving high fives and fist bumps to all his camp counselors and new friends along the way. He misses the coaches the most….coach Elliot and coach Connor made him feel at home. He says “they were very chill, cool and nice”. They even helped him when he felt homesick. She came back happy, met lots of new friends and her basketball skills have improved tremendously. She is already asking to go back next summer! The camp facility is gorgeous- from the air conditioned cabins with showers and toilets , to the indoor and outdoor basketball facilities . The kids had such a blast with the activities like colour wars , archery , banana boats , paddle boarding , etc . The coaches and councelers were fantastic , and the camp is so incredibly run by the owner - Steph , who keeps the parents so well informed throughout the whole journey on what to expect . He is already saying he wants to go for two weeks next year. He had an amazing time and made new friends. He got to play so much basketball, which is his favourite thing to do. The camp is just so organized, and the owner STEPHANIE is very lovely and makes sure that all the kids are doing good. The drop off and pick up is very well organized as well. We are both extremely happy with our experience. The first time my son has gone to a sleepover camp. He will definitely be going back next year. Maria Brown838 days agoWe found this camp by chance after we had already made all of our summer plans. I wish we had found it sooner because it would have been amazing to squeeze more than a week here. My 14 year old LOVED it. He raved about the facilities and the food. He enjoyed all of the activities and the friends that he made. He said that he felt safe and had lots of fun. The bus there and back was also pleasant. The only thing that was missing for him was that none of his bunk mates were local so he can't continue the friendships in person outside of camp (they are all on a group chat together, though). Communication with the staff was excellent. While our son has been to sleep away camp before, this was his first time with Elite and they gave us a check-in call to let us know he was doing well. This was a surprise but super appreciated. If you have a basketball lover, don't hesitate to send your child to this camp. We will absolutely be back next year for more than one week.Posted on Google

Kayla Jessica Marie1170 days agoWe took the 2.5 hour drive from Midland to Wiarton, the scenery was beautiful. Upon arrival we were greeted by inspirational signs going up the driveway leading to the camp, once we pulled up we were immediately greeted by enthusiastic counsellors eager to meet our camper. They loaded our campers bags onto their golfcart and we were able to walk him to the entrance, take a photo and say our goodbyes. The site is very big! located by the water, big new cabins, huge outdoor court as well as indoor court. On the first day we received photos of our camper on the app system and were able to follow along each day with activities they were participating in. There is even an app service to write in to your camper each day and receice a handwritten letter back, this was a big reliever for me as it was my childs first camp experience away so hearing from them made me nerves settle. My child came home with a ton of new skills he cant wait to use in his rep league team and highschool team. We are very grateful for this camp experience. Stephanie and all staff are amazing! She was delighted to be challenged by other teen campers at her playing level and the great coaches. The food, the accommodations and the facilities were fantastic. From the moment we arrived, the organization and attention to detail were evident. The staff welcomed us warmly and immediately put any apprehension to rest. The camp curriculum throughout the week was thoughtfully design, striking a perfect balance between skill development, teamwork and fun. My daughter's basketball skills improved visibly during her time at the camp, thanks to the expert guidance and personalized coaching she received during her week-long stay. She not only returned from the camp a better basketball player but also as a more confident and resilient individual. A huge shoutout to the coaches, organizers and everyone involved for making this camp an unforgettable experience for my daughter. Nina Ramirez1184 days agoThis is the BEST camp for so many reasons! So much thought went in to making this experience great for all!! The water sports, the arts and crafts, the activities, the cabins , the basketball courts, the leaders, the food, the communication ! Everything is on point. I did not worry once about not having contact and loved the no phone policy ! The best part for me as a parent was the daily pictures of my boy and seeing the smile from ear to ear...everyday. I knew he was so happy just by these pictures. My son has been home for a few days and still talking about how great of a time he had! Thank you HOOP Dreams. This year there were several girls from our U13 Girls team that were able to attend as well as some of the younger girls from our club (Huron Lakers) and some boys that play with our club as well. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from all of those who were able to attend. Great accommodations, awesome team building, amazing staff and great memories. I have coached these girls since grade 4, they are an awesome group of kids and this experience they had together just builds stronger relationships amongst them while building their skill level in an all around amazing atmosphere. I read an article Elite Camps sent about summer AAU basketball and I will continue to favour and promote this camp experience as an excellent alternative!Posted on Google

K T1198 days agoMy 14 year old son had an incredible time at camp. It's a rigorous program for kids who are serious about basketball, and my son came home with new skills (and sore legs!). The facilities are incredible, the food was great, and my son is already looking forward to returning next year. The camp communication, both before and during camp, was also amazing. Laura McLean1200 days agoMy son has gone to Hoop Dreams camp two summers in a row and loves it! He has never had anything bad to say about it. He loves the food, which is saying something because he’s picky! As a parent, I love how they post photos everyday and use facial recognition to specifically show us what our child has been doing. He comes home with tons more basketball skills than before he left. When I picked him up from the bus this year, he was already asking to go back next year. He thought his coach was awesome, the activities were fun, the food was good and had a great time with his cabin buddies. He said he really improved his ball handling too. He had a wonderful experience overall. The Bunk1 app was a cool tool where we could see pics daily of our son without feeling like we were interruptin and send it also allows for us to send him letters daily. As soon as he knew that I was looking for camps for him he asked if he could go for a week. The camp keeps is updated by routine phone calls to let us know how my son is doing, they also upload tons of picture so that I know what activities he has been engaged in. The aspect I love the most is that it is completely electronic free. I asked my son after he came home if he'd rather go to the camp again without screen for a week or a week at home with screen time, he answered without hesitation that he would choose to go again. Since their return from camp they can not stop talking about it. I asked them what they loved the most. Hands downs it was the counsellors and the culture that was created for them. She loved everything about it from the competitive basketball, to the water sports, colour war, making bracelets, and all the amazing staff. She said she “laughed more that week then she has in her entire life!” She went with 5 others from her rep team, and she came back saying we have to get the whole team to go next year. We get to see pictures and email updates during the week. It is such a positive environment and helps to build so many important life skills. Maja Babic1553 days agoThis was my son’s (and family’s) first overnight experience and I couldn’t have asked for things to go better. My son (age 9) was signed up for the mini camp but could have easily stayed the week. All correspondence was very informative prior to arrival and any questions I emailed in were promptly answered. My son loved the energy of the camp and found all coaches very friendly. He also felt the days were well scheduled and he absolutely loved the waterfront activities. “Food was really good”, said my son (the picker eater). He will definitely be coming back next summer and we'll try to get him there for two weeks. He's in contact with his cabin mates thru a chat group online. Greeting us and directing us with all the enthusiasm you would expect from an ELITE camp! The grounds were incredible from a parents standpoint, and in my sons words, “this is my dream space”. He made so many friends, both campers and coach’s, and has stories for years to come! He was so well looked after and cannot wait for next year! He always felt like a star player and spent the week doing what he loves-playing basketball. Being surrounded by others that share a love for the sport only made him love it more!Posted on Google

We really appreciate that the cabins were equipped with air conditioning and a mini fridge, bathrooms were clean and spacious, meals were fulfilling and well-prepared. There was a wide selection of activities to choose from for all ages, ranging from ones that can be enjoyed individually to group/team activities. Stephanie and her staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly, all of our questions were answered and the entire retreat was smooth sailing. Overall, it is a great place to go to for team building, family getaways or even just some time off. We would easily recommend Elite Camps to anyone!Posted on Google

Elite is well organized; many activities to choose from, was able to accommodate all ages (3 years to 70 years) within our family, including the dog!! Make this a perfect Family Retreat!! The facility is clean and follows Covid precautions; the cabins are roomy and comfortable with air-conditioning; The outdoor basketball courts are impressive; the indoor gym and indoor courts are top notch!! The staff are friendly and super helpful; everyone made us feel right at home. Michelle Fernandes1930 days agoWhat an AWESOME getaway!!! It was our first time going to Elite camps and it definitely won't be our last. We went up with a group of friends. The kids had a blast and so did the adults. The cabins were clean and well kept. The AC in the cabin made for extra awesome sleep after all those fun and exciting activities. We loved all of them. The food was delicious. The family game night was hilarious with Andrew and the flip cups. It was also my first time kayaking and Steph was amazing!! Her positivity and encouragement went a long way and now I love kayaking!! Her staff are AMAZING!! Each of them were kind, friendly and approachable from the time we got there. Shout outs to all of them... Kyle, Harry, Andrew, Kelly, Toby, Inderjeet, Natalie, Gui, Connor and I'm sorry but I can't remember the awesome kid in the archery area and I apologize if I forgot anyone else but you guys did an amazing job!! My entire family had a blast, and some much needed active, outdoor time after months of online school. We did the rock wall, archery, went tubing, hung out on the beach, and my kids played HOURS of basketball. Evening programming was also a riot - thanks to the staff for that. The camp and cabins are spotlessly clean, the staff are all awesome - warm, friendly and super helpful. We hope to make it back again before the end of the summer. We took advantage of multiple activities, including rock climbing, archery, tubing, kayaking, and even a bit of basketball. The evening campfires were also a favourite. All the meals were taken care of (no cooking or dishes!) and the activities were incredible. We particularly loved the tubing and archery. Evening games against other families made for fun competition. The cabins are large, clean and comfortable. We loved the bonus of powerful air conditioning (and so did our fur baby). In the summer of 2020, when they opened up their facilities to families for a socially distant family camp experience, our family very much enjoyed our stay. The owners are great people and they really do a fabulous job . The cabins and facilities were clean and comfortable and there was so much to do. The food was great as well. A kaur2381 days agoBoth my children attended youth camp for 1 week, they loved it, and are super excited to attend this year! The instructors were amazing! The program was great, very transparent in communication and extremely professional. The program had a multitude of various activities for the campers, and practicing drills to improve basketball skills daily. The program isn’t cheap, no discounts if more than one child is attending (it should be considered) and it can get costly if your child wants to attend more weeks. I hope this year, their nutritionist creates a better menu than last years, less processed for the campers. Hoping Covid19 doesn’t last longer than it already has.Posted on Google

Karry-ann Dillon2627 days agoElite Camps was an amazing experience for my daughter. She worked with amazing coaches, built upon her basketball skills and made many lasting friendships. The camp went above and beyond to ensure it was an exemplary experience. From the emails leading up to her week to help with preparation, having a bus service to the camp, email to me to let me know my daughter arrived safely and to posting pictures on social media so I was able to see my daughter participating. The camp experience is amazing, my son not only gets to practice basketball and improve his skill, but he also gets to have a lot of fun. The camp has so many more activities beside basketball. It is a great place to boost your child leadership skills. The staff is amazing. I highly recommend this camp. And for an added bonus, there is no device allowPosted on Google

Michael Knight2633 days agoBeing a basketball family, we are always looking to develop our children's opportunities to enhance their basketball skills. I was impressed when I toured the facilities and spoke to staff at the beginning of the week. I was more impressed when the first thing that my girl enthusiastically said to me when I picked her up at the end of the week, was "I don't want to leave. I had so-o-o much fun". To which I replied "But did you learn anything?". Her response: "Yes, it was better than [other camps] that I went to". She definitely wants to come back. Well done Elite Camps!!!!Posted on Google
Theresa Blair2633 days agoOur son attended hoop dreams overnight camp this July and had an amazing experience. It was his first overnight camp so he was a little nervous. From the moment we pulled into the camp he knew it was going to be great. We were welcomed by lots of smiling faces and introduced to everyone right away. We were taken on a tour of the camp. Amazing facilities and wonderful cabins for everyone. So great to have this camp so close to home. He loved everything from basketball, archery, and water activities and even the food. PD-4132634 days agoSent my 14 year old son for the first time to Hoop Dreams after many summers at Elite's day camp in Toronto. What an amazing experience for him, meeting kids with similar interests and goals from all over and the friendliest of staff who engaged with him from day 1. The new facility is beautiful, the basketball teaching is exemplary and the overall program is first rate. Sondra Barrett2634 days agoVery impressed with the emails sent and pictures that were posted when my son was away - updates sent regularly about bussing, orders that were completed and more as well as photos taken each day and posted to Facebook for families to view! Very organized and professional! My son had a great time and met new friends and made memories that will last forever!!!! Such a beautiful location as wellPosted on Google
Stacey Selwood2634 days agoThis was my daughters fifth year at Elite Hoop Dreams camp. She absolutely loves coming back every summer. The counsellers are so supportive and fun loving. She raves about colour wars, paint wars and the food! Every summer she makes new friends from all over and these friendships have stood the test of time. She always tells me this is her favourite week of the whole year. Already counting down until she gets to go back next summer!!Posted on Google
Dan McDonald2645 days agoThe Elite Camps provided an excellent experience for our son. From the moment we drove in, we could tell that the staff were great, and that they were committed to making sure we knew what to expect. Our son had an excellent time and played lots of basketball. The tubing was also really good. Since the site is new, the accommodations are very good - including air conditioning and bathrooms in the cabins. We also appreciated seeing the nice indoor gym-so we knew the kids wouldn't have to play outside when it is too hot, rainy or windy. Our son wants to return next year.Posted on Google

Food was great, he learned new skills everyday, and the staff and activities were wonderful! By far the best overnight summer camp experience to date.Posted on Google

Tara Gerlock2656 days agoThis camp is incredible. We have 2 boys ages 11 and 13 who have never been to overnight camp but LOVED basketball. This camp was the perfect fit. Our boys were signed up for 1 week each and ended up extending to 4 weeks and would have stayed longer. The facility is extraordinary, the cabins are clean and comfortable (air conditioned), the basketball program is exceptional. Our boys loved the programming and food but most of all the staff!!!!! There is not enough good that could be said about the staff working at this camp - they are fun, dedicated, caring, highly skilled and just overall amazing people. We are 100% going back next year. Lital Duke2657 days agoWe were very impressed with Hoop Dreams: the staff was wonderful. Communication was excellent throughout the process: from initial contact, and through my child’s stay. I appreciated the responsiveness of the staff to every child’s emotional and athletic need. The facilities were also exceptional and my child was very comfortable during his stay.
